Workshop Four Objectives

The objectives of Workshop 4 are to:

1. Describe what motivation is and why it is important to managerial success.

2. Discuss how goals motivate people and what kinds of goals result in high performance.

3. Explain leadership effectiveness and the sources of power that enable managers to be effective leaders.

4. Identify the behaviors associated with transformational leadership and explain how transformational leaders are effective.

5. Discuss why it is important for teams to have a balance of conformity, deviance, and a moderate level of cohesiveness.

6. Identify how managers can motivate teams to achieve goals while reducing social loafing in groups and teams.
