Workshop Three Objectives

The objectives of Workshop 3 are to:

  1. Recognize the relationship between planning and strategy.
  1. Describe how managers implement strategies to achieve an organization’s mission and goals.
  1. Discuss value-chain management and how it can be used to achieve superior quality, efficiency, innovation, and responsiveness to customers.
  1. Describe what customers want, and explain why it is so important for managers to be responsive to their needs.
  1. List the four sources of organizational culture, and differentiate between a strong, adaptive culture and a weak, inert culture.
  1. Describe the types of organizational structures managers can design, and explain why they choose one structure over another.
  1. Identify the main output controls, and discuss their advantages and disadvantages as means of coordinating and motivating employees.
  1. Describe the four steps in the control process and the way it operates over time.
